If this woman deserves £20K for failing to do her sums properly, I should get a fortune for the way I keep managing to put two and two together and get results that really do add up!
Life doesn’t work like that in the real world – here, she’d be told to get over herself and get on with it; if she wants more money she can go find a different job (we’d ALL be better-off).
But she works in Toryland. She’ll probably get more.

Is this woman for real or what? So her staff are having a pay increase of between 0.5% and 1% and she gets a “bonus” of £20K which is more than some of her staff earn (average HMRC pay is £17800) How do these people get these jobs?
The Chief Executive of HMRC has said she “deserved” a bonus worth up to £20,000 last year, despite overseeing a £1.9 billion error that saw officials overstating the amount of extra revenue they were collecting.
Lin Homer said she should keep on to a bonus worth between £15,000-£20,000, saying it reflected “a very good performance”. It came on top of a £185,000 salary. She received the same bonus last year.
